Quick Camera App Reviews

the best USB camera

I tested many usb cameras. This is by far the best. It has the best picture, it cam mirror the image, it can be sized to full screen. Had no problems on 2 older Macs. And the best of all, it works even with my old iSight camera. And is free !!! I use it to cut my hair on my rear head ;-) Thank you - excellent developer !

Great for readable video but no images

I use this for a USB microscope and like how simple it is to inspect with it. No capability of just taking quick screenshots within the same app thought That feature would make it perfect.

Exactly what I was looking for

I was just curious to see what everyone else sees when they look at me…and its free, so even better!

Simple utility that allows for video streaming on Mac for the Flir C2 camera

Flirtools does not allow video streaming on the Mac for the C2 infrared camera. Fortunately this simple utility does. It also solves the problem of a reversed image that can be found with other software.

Nice to use if you don’t want to waste drive space on useless recordings

I downloaded this app to use with a borescope since PhotoBooth only flips single images, and it doesn’t offer a way to record video. Although this app doesn’t offer recording capabilities either, I find it useful for inspecting with the scope and not having to use-up drive space for irrelevant video records. Regardless, this app is a good tool for previewing or working live in an enclosed space. I found (much to my chagrin) that QuickTime does record video as the camera sees it and not horizontally flipped (sorry, I’m not a QT fan but whatever gets the job done on the cheap, right?). Nice work and I look forward to using this app under working conditions and not just on the test bench.

my second set of eyes

using to relay the image from the bullet camera that I use to inspect boards. Just what I need.

Great for the classroom

I do live hands-on camera demos in class and this really helps the the text reversal problem.

Simple

I purchased a cheap USB microscope off Amazon but the driver didn’t work. Luckily I can launch Photo Booth and choose USB microscope to use the device. Unfortunately, when I place stamps from my collection under the microscope for closer inspection the video feed is mirrored. This simple program fixed the mirrored video feed and allows me to use my USB microscope to magnify and identify the stamps. Thanks so much!

Major Loss in Video Quality after Update

This was a five star app before the 1.2 update. The video quality is terrible in full screen mode, compaired to the previous version. I had to reinstall the old version to get the quality back.

Saved my day - Tag gerettet

Hallo, I needed a software which was able to mirror the usb webcam. I was using an endoscopic usb camera to follow some cables between the walls… Photobooth and facetime do not mirror the camera picture… It totally drives you crazy when you try to move right with the camera but it looks like you move left… Fortunately i stumbled across QCamera…. This tool is able to mirror the picture (does it by default). The picture is not that fluently as is is in photobooth - anyway… totally perfect for me. You made my day… Thank you very much.

Thanks a lot!

Thanks for releasing this useful app! This was exactly what I was looking for! :)

Thank you!

Very useful, thank you!

Works well as describe without hassles

This is a useful gem so far. Simple. Does what it says. Clean, simple UI; as it should be. It uses jsut 6% of a single core on my MBP Retina, which for this type app is really good. Other camera apps use lot sof CPU I have downloaded apps other like this that I paid $ for and they slammed the CPU (>100% of a core). The other apps has made My MBP-R start to warm up. This one isnt even noticed. Also, this one has been perectly smooth so far. No weirdo bugs like I have seen in other apps of this type. Two minor wishes. It would be nice if frameless mode supported dragging and expanding the window. You have to undo borderless mode to move it and since the idea is to have it as an overlay, it would be nice ot be able to move things easily to accomodate what is underneath. This isnt a bug however, the app works as described and works well. The other apps pitch the idea of using them as a sort of mirror to see what is going on behind you. This one resizes really well and uses so little CPU relatively speaking that it is much beter suited for this purpose.

Just what Ive been looking for

My son and I use a Celestron Amoeba USB microscope. Weve been using photobooth and reversing the images after taken. That was tolerable until we started collecting coins and using the microscope to see the dates and mint marks, a real pain in reverse! This app is exactly what we needed. Simple, to the point, works. The only feature I immediately wanted and found was full window zoom, nice! Thanks for this, we appreciate it!

Great app for demoing iPad apps on a big screen

The key feature of this app is that you can read words displayed from the camera because the image is not mirrored. Most other web cam apps display a mirror image since they are primarily for viewing a user in front of a computer and people are used to seeing mirror images of themselves. A mirror image will not work for reading text. I use this app with an external camera mounted to a tripod, pointing straight down at an iPad. Then users can watch me demo the use to the iPad app on a big screen and read the text in the app. It works great.

Very simple - needs rotation

Very simple, easy to use, does what it says. One feature request - add rotation of 90, 180, -90 degrees would make this perfect for what I need to use my webcam as a document camera.

Its perfect

Thank you, Thank you for the simple clean app.

USB microscope

Just what I needed for an Andonstar microscope connected to Mac OSX10.9 Photobooth does not allow reversal of real time video feed This app does that perfectly

Wish it could rotate the image

nice app, but just wish you could rotate the image by 90 degrees and such.

Simple and perfect for my use

Like the others, I just wanted an app that would show my camera without mirroring the image. This app does it. Thanks!!
